Dear Friends,

After 9 months back at the institute. We only took a few pictures this time because we lost our camera there the first day and we couldn’t find it until the last day.  Therefore most of the pictures show the stay with our guest family.  Right away one of the most important events occurred to Rosa. After 2 years she could see her friend Mattias again. Mattias is from Argentina and the two had met each other in 2008 during our visits to the institutes. It so happens that Mattias family lived with the same guest family as we did. What a treat for the kids. They understand each other without words and had lots of fun together.

Rosa with Mattias and his parents.

Rosa’s evaluation showed a jump in her development.  She had already begun to run and walk a little for some time but it wasn´t enough to really be acknowledged. But now it is official. Rosa can run.

That increased her development of age  from  48,39 months by 2 months to 51,09 months.  With a chronological age of 117 months there is still much to do but there is always progress.

Rosa has also achieved great progress in her behavior. She now uses an advanced applicatory problem solving routine which includes a lot of training in articulation.

Back home we did something very smart. We invited over all friends who live with Rosa every day. That’s around 15 people, quite an army, and gave them a small introduction into the articulation training.

Acutally it´s pretty easy. Rosa has to be stimulated constantly to talk. We explained it to our friends and the effect was great. Suddenly everybody talked to Rosa. After one month they figured that you can really have a conversation with Rosa. Not so much with words but with gestures that can easily be interpreted.

Pako started to work with Rosa on a vegetable garden and Adriana organized a weekly dance workshop with her.

Rosa reads literature about these subjects and learns so many new things.  Rosa’s self confidence has risen greatly and she becomes more and more responsible.  Her new vegetarian diet contributes to that. This period of treatment has been one of the most effective.

Thank you for the aid we received.  Your help is as valuable as in the first days. After 7 years in this program there is still improvement, slow but steady.

With kind regards Elke, Darinel, Maria and ROSA
